Red squirrels have been sighted on the trees infront of the cottage. The owners have installed a red squirrel feeding box and platform and guests at the cottage can fill the feeding box with hazel nuts & enjoy watching the red squirrels feed. Scafell Pike is nearby. A popular walk starts at Seatoller and heads to Combe Gill making a circuit back to the village. The open top bus tour from village is a great way for all the family to see The Lakes. The route follows Derwentwater to Keswick & continues to Lake Windermere. Visit Honistor slate mine 2 miles from Ghyllside. Mine tours are available daily, gift shop & refreshments available, or try your hand at trout fishing (rods can be hired) 1 mile from Ghyllside. |
